rock star momma book release party & BOOK GIVEAWAY!

Quick Jump To » Comments

rock star momma party This past Thursday, Joely Fisher hosted the official book release celebration for Rock Star Momma – a brand new pregnancy fashion and beauty guide by maternity/kids fashion designer and author Skye Hoppus . The party was held at The Treehouse Social Club in L.A. – a very fitting location seeing as it caters to hip moms and kids! Treehouse closed to the public at 3:30 and the event started at 5:30 – so getting the entire party put together in a 2-hour timeframe was more than a little nerve-wracking! Especially since our tasks within that timeframe included moving furniture, removing a chandelier from the ceiling, setting up lighting, and clearing off tons of merchandise from the store shelves! Talk about a workout… But I’m happy to say that in the end, just like Rock Star Momma – the party went over very well! Here’s a little recap just for you…

rock star momma party {above} Skye with husband Mark Hoppus of +44 and blink-182 . +44 is currently on tour with Fall Out Boy , but Mark flew in just for the night to support his wife. He looked more than a little exhausted when he got home but rallied for the party…good husband!

{below} The book ! {hope you like the cover…it was designed by yours truly!} :)

rock star momma party In addition to friends and family, the guests also included some other recognizeable rock star mommas…

rock star momma party The beautiful floral arrangements were created by L.A. Premier , who did a great job of matching the book’s hot pink and aqua color palette. Check out the hot-pink water!

rock star momma party The tray-passed hors d’oeuvres were provided by Treehouse and so delicious! My husband and I especially loved the mini star-shaped tostadas and chicken skewers with peanut sauce…yum! Specialty drinks included pink pomegranite martinis and citrus margaritas featuring Gran Centenario tequila.

rock star momma party rock star momma party What’s a Hollywood party without a little swag, right? The RSM goody bags included everything shown below and more…too much in fact to post everything here, but a few favorites include: sling totes by Fleurville , lip gloss by Stila , gift sets from little twig , super soft chenille baby blankets from Little Giraffe , "love" necklaces from LilyGirl , jeweled tanks and tees from Ankh , Peanut Shell baby slings, and a $200 shopping spree at Childish !

rock star momma party rock star momma party Me and Skye…at the end of the evening. Is it obvious that I jumped into my dress in the women’s bathroom stall at 5:35 and barely had time to run a brush through my hair? As you may already know, sometimes party planning means spending more time fixing up the room than yourself. When that happens and suddenly the guests are there, all you can do is take a deep breath, move away from the mirror, grab a glass of wine – or in this case, a pomegranite martini – and enjoy the party. That’s what I did :)

WIN A COPY OF THE BOOK!
Want to learn how to be a rock star momma yourself or have a loved one with a bun in the oven who’d love a copy of RSM? Great, because we’re giving away 5 copies of Rock Star Momma ! Just post any comment here to enter the giveaway. You have until Friday, June 29 at midnight PST to enter!

Guess what? Skye will be guest blogging all week over at Design Mom ! Also – look for Skye & RSM on the Today Show this Tuesday, June 26th!

The night looks like it was alot of fun. A close friend of mine has just announced she is pregnant. At 37 she has been waiting a while for this news! I would love to give her a copy of this book (along with some other goodies). Not having any kids myself I need to quiz other friends on what they most wanted/needed when they were pregnant. Not something for the baby, but something for her.

Ohh i love it!!! the drinks look so yummy too!

  62. hiphostess June 26, 2007 at 7:31 am

    Janea –
The food was prepared by the Treehouse staff – and the chicken tostadas were ridiculously good! Sonny and I actually had the same thought as JMG – we’re going to do those for our 4th of July get-together this year! Regarding the hot-pink (or “raspberry”) blankets, LG has had them for a while, but I don’t think all the retailers have picked them up yet. When it comes to baby things, pastels are always the “safer” bet, but hopefully the brighter colors will be available on a wider scale soon too because they’re so much fun!

Megan – there were about 5 of us doing most of the set-up in the 2 hour period, but other people were pitching in here and there too, which was much appreciated :)

To everyone – thank you so much for all the sweet comments!

    Jenn
do you happen to know what kind of cheese is on the tostada .. i really want to make it for a shower this weekend and btw where is the treehouse?

    ~Janea~

  84. hiphostess July 19, 2007 at 10:16 am

    Hi Janea –

I’m not sure what type of cheese it was – but it had a texture similar to goat cheese actually, so it may have been that. You could also try feta.

Treehouse is on the infamous Robertson Blvd in L.A. (near many of the boutiques that you often seen celebrities shopping at in tabloid magazines) Here’s a link to the exact address on their website

  85. Janea July 23, 2007 at 6:09 pm
