DIY Tutorial: Leprechaun Hat S’mores

leprechaun hat s'mores - st. patrick's day dessert idea

What’s luckier than a leprechaun’s hat? A leprechaun hat made of chocolate and marshmallow with a great cookie crunch! Hi, it’s Carrie Sellman from Half Baked, the cake blog for sweet inspiration. I’m over the rainbow to be here today, sharing a quick and easy treat for St. Patrick’s Day!

Delicious as they are cute, these little hats would be the perfect addition to any St. Patty’s Day dessert table, or a festive sweet to enjoy at home. A Fudge Stripe Cookie base is topped with a marshmallow and then coated in chocolate to create one delicious little s’more hat! Easy enough for your little leprechauns to help make too (if you don’t mind gooey hands!). Hope you enjoy these Leprechaun Hat S’MoresLet’s take a peek inside, shall we? (more…)

Adorable Madeline Themed Birthday Party

Madeline Birthday Party Cake

Bonjour! I’m so excited to share the sweet details of this adorable MADELINE Themed Birthday Party with you today… Lydia of The Party Wagon created this darling celebration for her daughter’s 8th birthday, and with creative elements like mini fondant Madelines, hats and capelets for each “mademoiselle”, and mini suitcase favor boxes – in addition to clever themed activities like Madeline’s Hat Parade, “Lessons at the Louvre”, and storytime with “Miss Clavel” – I’d say she gets an A+ on all accounts!

It’s obvious that a lot of thought and effort went into this birthday party, and after reading the first sentence of Lydia’s party description, I couldn’t help but smile… She said, “Having always loved Madeline and having saved the books with hopes of one day reading them to my own daughter, I was thrilled to plan this party for my daughter, Camille.” Amazing job, Lydia! :)

Sweet “Eloise at the Plaza” Birthday Party

Eloise themed cake and birthday party dessert table

Along with many others out there, I’m a huge fan of the gorgeous fondant sugary creations from Charynn of Two Sugar Babies. She pops up within the vendor credits of submissions we receive quite often – so I’m very excited to be able to feature one of her OWN parties today!

Charynn wanted to do something extra special for her daughter Madelyn’s 5th birthday – so she used one of Madelyn’s favorite characters – Eloise – as the inspiration for this adorable “ELOISE AT THE PLAZA” birthday party. I love how she gave the theme her own unique and SWEET twist by creating the look of an “all pink bakery that Eloise might visit on one of her trips outside the Plaza”… complete with a black and white striped awning fashioned from IKEA fabric!  She also enlisted the design help of Kelly from WH Hostess, who created an adorable pink, black, and white party collection to further personalize the theme and tie everything together – from the “bakery window” to the children’s tea party table to the clever “Nanny’s Libations” drink station – an element also inspired by the book series and created especially for the adult party guests!

Darling “Pretty In Pink” Princess Party

pink princess party dessert table and birthday crowns

Paige from Paiges of Style definitely whipped up some royal party magic with this “PRETTY IN PINK” PRINCESS BIRTHDAY PARTY that she designed for a friend’s daughter! And with stylish details like shimmery mercury glass filled with fluffy pink peonies, a fabulous {homemade} pink ruffle dessert table backdrop, and a downright gorgeous pink ombre ruffle cake, this is one “royal affair” that should appeal to birthday princesses of all ages!

I also love how the custom princess themed party printables that Paige designed manage to be super cute without being “cutesy”, while glitzy details like playful metallic trims (as seen around the milk bottles & DIY birthday hat), a sparkly rhinestone-bedecked “birthday crown”, and shimmery gold fondant princess crowns added a fun pop of “glam” to the party.

Gorgeous SoCal Winter Wedding {Part 2}

Coral and Aqua Wedding Winter Dessert Table

Building on Part 1 from the Gorgeous SoCal Winter Wedding posted earlier today, here we go with Part 2 – which covers the dessert table, drinks, gifts, and fun paper details & photo props by LLY Designs!

The crepe paper and snowflake backdrop behind the dessert table is so simple and inexpensive but looks absolutely lovely and adds such a nice splash of color! {Great take-away idea for events of ANY occasion.} I also love how some of the vases – and the bridal bouquet – were embellished with lace, which is the perfect tie-in to the bride’s stunning dress! Gorgeous SoCal Winter Wedding {Part 1}

Pink Aqua Coral Wedding Centerpiece

Sometimes I feel like one of the hardest parts of blogging is narrowing down all the images from a submission and picking out which ones to feature in order to paint an accurate picture of the event without overwhelming the reader – or their internet connection – with too many pictures at once. This task is especially hard when there are sooo many incredible images and details to choose from – as is the case with this gorgeous Coral, Pink & Aqua Winter Wedding styled by Marisa Nicole Weddings & Events and beautifully captured by Becca Rillo Photography!

Sooo after quite a while of editing down, I still decided to split this feature into 2 posts: Check out the stunning flowers and wedding fashion below, then see Part 2 (posting later today) for the rest of the story: the lovely dessert table, drinks, and stationery details! This wedding was shot near Christmas time and inspired by the warm & casual vibe of Southern California – but the beautiful color palette and details can be used as inspiration for weddings & events of any season. :)

GAME ON! Girl vs. Boy Gender Reveal Party

Baby Gender Reveal Party Sign and Buttons

As some of you may know, we (HWTM Blog Contributor, Jessica Wilcox, of Modern Moments Designs) are expecting our fourth child. We already have three amazing boys ranging from two to seven years old. When we found out we were expecting, I immediately started planning a gender reveal party. This is going to be our last child, and I wanted to have fun sharing the good news with all of our friends and family!

Thanks to Pinterest, I was able to come up with some fun ideas! I also had a ton of help from many vendors who were kind enough to donate incredible products that made our party super special. I wanted to stick with your traditional pink and blue color scheme, but I also wanted to make it fun and competitive too. A “Girl versus Boy” theme arose and the planning began…

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax Inspired Dessert Table

The Lorax Themed Dessert Table (Dr. Suess movie)

In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and the release of the {very adorable looking} movie The Lorax coming out TODAY, check out this fun “The Lorax” Inspired Dessert Table from Lilly of I Heart Sugar Sugar!

I love how she emulated the look of the book’s trufulla trees using tulle poms for the tops and painted curly willow branches or stripey straws for the trunks. Also loving that Universal Studios has provided a free download of the poster artwork for personal use – as seen here on the cupcake wrappers and water bottle labels! I have a feeling this movie is going to be a popular kids birthday party theme this year and the poster artwork and these movie images will come in quite handy. ;)
