So… you might have noticed that we’re going a little crazy with POPSICLES over here lately. ;) And as much as I do love to eat them, the main reason was that (at a recent speaking engagement) I wanted to demonstrate how the exact same theme can be brought to life in two totally different ways. So the first popsicle party design we dreamed up was a watercolor-inspired popsicle baby shower, and the 2nd one is what you see here: a playful & modern Popsicle Birthday Party!
PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:
- A fabulous (and inexpensive!) sheet from Target used as the “tablecloth”
- Washi tape used to make paper plates look like “presents”
- DIY Popsicle Stick Cake Centerpiece + Glittered Frame “Cake Topper”
- Folded napkins + washi tape-embellished forks combined to look like “popsicles”
- “Dreamsicle” orange flavored drinks and “Orangesicle” cupcakes!
- Printable popsicle silhouettes embellished with sticks to create a fun garland!
TABLE & CHAIRS
The “tablecloth” was actually a flat sheet from Target. It was the same price to buy an entire twin-sized set as it would’ve been to rent a solid colored tablecloth for the day! Sunny yellow folding chairs from Raphaels were draped with tissue fringe garlands…. which are quickly becoming one of my very favorite types of party decor!
Simple paper plates from Party City were given a criss-cross of cute washi tape to mimic the look of a wrapped present. Homemade Orangesicle Cupcakes (mix & frosting purchased at Target) were topped with Party Circles and 2 cupcake liners for super quick & easy styling!
To create the look of “popsicles” from folded napkins and wooden utensils, some leftover wooden forks I had from another party were embellished with bright pink Queen & Company washi tape to hide the blue pattern they originally came with… worked like a charm!
Small Orange Gatorade bottles were given printable “Dreamsicle” labels and garnished with party flags + cute Chevron Paper Party Straws from The TomKat Studio!
The centerpiece was probably my favorite detail from this theme – a DIY Popsicle Stick “cake”. Tutorial coming soon! We also embellished it with a paper popsicle garland (made from our printable popsicle silhouettes + popsicle sticks). The garland was suspended from dowel rods inserted into painted & glittered bud vases from Ikea (repurposed from my friend’s pink & gold Royal Baby Shower earlier this year).
These were super easy! I filled plastic shot glasses with a printable popsicle themed favor tag + Mini Chewy Sweet Tarts (purchased at Michaels). The pink, orange and yellow candies matched the party colors perfectly, so we simply picked out (and ate!) the purple and green ones to keep the palette consistent. For the finishing touch, mini Sucre Shop wooden spoons were inserted to give the favor the look of an upside down popsicle.
