How To Set Up A Candy Buffet (Step By Step Instructions!)

candy buffet

Tonya Coleman here from Soireé Event Design, and I’m back with the “Trend Alert” where I share with you some of the hottest trends in party planning!

This candy buffet trend is still going strong…in fact it has become a staple in most parties these days from small parties and baby showers to large weddings.

In today’s guest post I’m sharing How To Set Up A Candy Buffet In 6 EASY Steps! And be sure to scroll down for access to the full budget breakdown and Pinterest board with links to most of the items I used in this table design.

Candy buffets are my all-time favorite party trend and are always featured in any party that I plan. When I first started designing them, I had so many questions, like how to figure out how much candy I would need.  I had no idea how many jelly beans are in a 10 lb bag or how many m&m’s would I need to fill an apothecary jar!

So, after trial and error, I have come up with 6 steps that I always use along with tips to help you set up your next candy buffet. Let’s take a look at this Baby Shower Candy Buffet table for 24 guests completely finished and then I’ll show you step-by-step how I did it.

There’s lots of fun stuff to check out – from sparkly costume-inspired decorating ideas and “Scandal-icious” treats to a (humorous!) Modern Family inspired photo station. There wasn’t time to touch on every idea – including one of my personal favorites – the tray of “Gloria’s Baby Cheeses” inspired by this episode of Modern Family – so I might try to post a few more of the specifics later – but in the meantime you can download the free printables we designed for all 3 shows here and here. :) (more…)

Wendy’s & HWTM Ultimate Premiere Party for Professional Dancer Cheryl Burke! {Event Recap}

utensils with washi tape, DIY cake stand, and DIY TV Centerpiece

Last Monday was definitely not my average start to the week…this one was filled with sequins, sparkle, washi tape, free printables, camera flashes, and all kinds of YUM! ;)

What could bring about all this fun stuff on a Monday night, you ask? Well…… I had a blast styling the Wendy’s® Ultimate Premiere Party for pro dancer Cheryl Burke up in LA that evening! We celebrated the return of 2 favorites: fall television and Wendy’s Flatbread Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, which are back on the menu for a limited time.

Viewing party guests – which included HWTM readers (yay!) and lots of great media attendees – watched the Season 17 premiere of Cheryl’s show while it aired (hence all the sequins & sparkle!) – and Cheryl came by to watch the episode with us. It’s not everyday that you watch a show WITH one if its stars in the room, right?!

Cheryl Burke & Jenn Sbranti

My role at the Premiere Party was to style the atmosphere and share some easy ways that anyone can take their own TV parties to the next level, without a ton of effort or expense. And YES – it really is possible to weave a healthy dose of playfulness and style into your get-together without totally stressing yourself out.

For example, instead of spending hours cooking & cleaning in the kitchen before the party, just pick up some quick, accessible options to serve your guests – like the Wendy’s Flatbread Grilled Chicken Sandwiches that we dined on at this party – then give them a quick “costume change” with cute little food picks and festive serving trays. Done!

I’ve eaten quite a few of both flavors of these tasty sandwiches over the past couple weeks (figured it was part of my “research” for the party!) and am a big fan of the multigrain flatbread they come wrapped in… it’s toasted but still just the right amount of soft. I’m sure my own viewing party friends will gobble them up too, especially when they learn that the sweet & savory Smoky Honey Mustard Flatbread has only 370 calories. You know what that means… pass the dessert! ;)

Wendy's Flatbread Grilled Chicken Sandwiches

Although I showcased several different ideas at this event, it’s important for me to note that you do NOT need to do all of them! Just 1 or 2 quick party DIY tricks will turn any everyday get-together into a unique & more memorable experience for your guests. Maybe it’s the sparkly food picks and embellished trays that you like – or maybe the semi-circle party garlands and paper table runners are more up your alley. The point is that life is too short not to weave in a little extra fun here and there – and when it comes to parties – there are lots of fun things that can be done in seconds flat!

Read on to check out pics from the party + a recap of all the different tips…

HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

– Washi tape, washi tape EVERYWHERE! Utensils, trays, cups, paper cones, & more…
– Easy gold dipped feather garlands inspired by costumes from Cheryl’s show
– DIY “TV” Centerpieces made from $1 frames + Free Printable sign inserts
– Show inspired phrases woven throughout the decor. i.e. “CHANNEL your inner disco queen”
