pool party playdate ideas

I’m excited to share a different sort of post with you today – one that will hopefully inspire you to start planning your own day of fun in the sun!

I was asked to help style a Pool Party Playdate (for a crew of bloggers & their kids), sponsored by Huggies® Little Swimmers. With the weather heating up and summer right around the corner, it’s the perfect time for a pool party! I’ve also been slightly obsessed with incorporating watercolor into my designs lately, and a swimming theme felt like another perfect excuse. 😉

There were so many cool & unique things about this event – the key highlights being the guests of honor (bloggers/moms from all over the country & their families), the incredible venue (a poolhouse right on the beach – talk about instant WOW factor), and the activities, which included a playful group swim lesson and some insanely cool underwater (& above water) photography by Pinky Blue Photography.

Seriously… how cool is the water shot above?! As a fellow blogger with a little one still in diapers myself, I was a bit bummed to miss out on the pool time fun, but we realized that it would’ve been next to impossible for me to decorate the party with a 2 year old in tow, especially given that the event was out of town, so I settled for the next best thing once the party was done up right and in full swing – relaxing and enjoyed the amazing view! That pretty much NEVER happens these days, so it wasn’t exactly a hard sell either. ;)

Since my personal focus for this event was the decor, this recap is more visually focused and a little different than those of the other guests in attendance. Scroll down for a peek at some of my favorite details from the event though (including super cute themed food like Shark’s Mouth Salad & Crabby Croissants!), and then next month I’m actually going to post a similar pool party theme styled in my own backyard, but with more of a “how to” focus that digs into the DIY details and party elements a bit deeper. There’s still a lot of inspiration to soak in here though (pun intended) – and I’m happy to answer any questions you might have in the meantime on the decor via the comments section below!
