I was looking to throw a baby shower with a elegant yet retro theme. The Mommy-to-be was adamant about having no pink at the shower, so I wanted to come up with something unique for her. I became inspired by seafoam green which I eventually paired with peach to give it a feminine yet retro feel.
I looked to designs from the 60's for inspiration as well. Retro starbursts were reflected in the flowers and the "baby" jacks on the table. The quintessential retro circle design was reflected in the invitation and all of the paper goods at the shower.
For the decor, I leaned heavily on etsy! I was able to find some really neat elements to add to the theme. Vintage vases, the rotary phone and cat eye glasses were all so fun! But the biggest find for me was the seafoam green lunch trays that we used for the dessert display!
I have never really been into too many of the standard games at baby showers, so I came up with a really fun idea that was a huge hit at the party. "Build A Baby" was created out of a humorous conversation we were having about what the baby will look like. And I thought, why don't I make that into a game for the shower? I took pictures of the Mom, Dad and both sets of their parents and provided a blank baby, glue sticks, scissors and markers and asked guests to "build" what they think they baby will look like. Will it have Grandpa's eyes, Mom's smile and Grandma's hair? After the guests were done building their baby, they were asked to sign the back and hang it for everyone to see. At the end of the shower, the Mommy-to-be picked her favorite baby. It was a riot!
