For my daughter, Kyler's first birthday, I knew I had to do a nautical theme because they are just too cute! Everything was a DIY project since I created everything myself! I wanted to keep the costs to a minimal but still make a big impact! First, I designed the invitations and thank you cards. I found as I was looking online for a design that I could create something just as cute (in my opinion anyway). For the party decorations, I created and printed the menu cards, decorated letters for ONE, and K & J with scrapbook paper and Mod Podge, whipped up some bunting, and designed and printed some more signs I used (such as the monthly photos). The "life preserver" Kyler wreath was created with some ribbons, rope, wooden letters, hot glue and spray paint! The "Happy Birthday" bunting was made with my Cricut! I even made all of the tissue poufs myself because it was much cheaper than buying them already done! All of the other decorations (such has the sail boat and vases) were picked up for a span of a month or so at random stores through out the city; ie Hobby Lobby, Dollar Store, Jo-Anns, TJ Maxx, etc.. For food, her party was after lunch so we didn't have to worry too much on feeding a bunch of people! Still, we created everything from scratch minus the main cake, smash cake, and subs. My main cake is larger than my cake stand (which I did not know at the time) but we decided to roll with it (much bigger fish to fry one hour before the party starts!!) One thing I was super excited/scared to do was make the push-pop cakes myself. Turns out, they were really simple (messy, but simple) but came out yummy and everyone loved them! For the favors, I bought the $1 pails from Target and filled them with Goldfish and bubbles, both big hits with the kiddos. I tied on an anchor or whale and wrote "Thanks" in chalk and we were all set!
