Peyton's Very Hungry Caterpillar (28 photos)
The theme for Peyton’s first birthday party was A Very Hungry Caterpillar. The decorations consisted themed paper items for the toddler party.
I am a wedding & event planner and was so excited when a past bride asked me to help style her daughter’s first birthday. The Very Hungry Butterfly theme was chosen along with a popular children’s bookstore where the party was hosted. The Very Hungry Caterpillar book has been around forever, so it is always fun to add a twist to a classic.
Paper items such as plates, napkins were purchase on-line from the Carle Museum. Local stationery designer, T-evenire Design, created menu cards.
Each child received a Very Hungry Caterpillar coloring book, crayons and lacing cards as a party favor the party girl's mom purchased from Etsy. Themed floor mats were purchased as colorful/functional play area. I added two trio glass bud vases that were transformed into caterpillars by adding green peas, eyes and pipe cleaner ears.
The dessert table consisted of two cakes, including one gluten free mini cake for the birthday girl and a larger more elaborate cake for guests. Each cake was trimmed in large, colorful gumballs. The baker was a friend of the family. The cake’s detail was unbelievable right down to the caterpillar’s teeth marks. A friend created a caterpillar cupcake caterpillar with legs and was a big fit with the kids because you can never have enough sweets. A personal chef - Chef Rosecleer Marie created finger food tuna/chicken sandwiches and grape kebobs shaped as caterpillar along with all of the other finger foods for the kids.
Peyton’s birthday party was a blast and the party girl in two custom dresses and party hat.
