Vintage Paper Doll Party (24 photos)
My grandma keeps everything, everything. Including wonderful clothes patterns from the 1950's. When she brought me a box of them, it was the inspiration I needed to pull together Elaina's fifth birthday party. I let Elaina choose which style of dress she wanted from a stack of patterns, then sewed her dress. Then, we found a large collection of Betsy McCall pdfs online, for free. I created a copy of Loralee Lewis's vintage paperdoll invitation using My Digital Studio by Stampin Up and the Betsy McCall images (so they would coordinate perfectly). I printed the paperdolls and quality cardstock and cut out cothes to make a mini garland. It was so sweet.
Becase Elaina's birthday is in December and the house is decked out for Christmas, I hosted her party in the play room. The space worked well. The cake was a bit tricky; however, I found a beautiful doll party from Just Call Me Martha. I emailed a question about to create a similar cake (no chance she could ship one from Austrailia); following her suggestion, I actually used a styrofoam square and covered it with fondant. Elaina helped me cut out flowers and make shutters. We had a great time. The cake is the roof.
Straws, napkins, favor bags are from The TomKat Studio.
