Via's Retro Rainbow Dedication Party (50 photos)
Party Details as told by Mommy Katrina:
For my daughter Via’s dedication party, I wanted to have a theme that reflected my baby’s happy disposition and her love for color, and when I was browsing through HWTM’s original themes, I fell in love with the RETRO RAINBOW theme printables, especially with the invitation. I was so excited to do all the craft projects to go with the design. Thanks to the help of my closest friends, we were able to pull off this totally colorful and fun dedication party!
First of all, I chose 9 Spoons because it was such a lovely venue. It was on the top floor of a hotel and it had wall-to-ceiling windows. I originally wanted an outdoor party but this was even better because summertime in the Philippines meant 85 to 90 degrees weather. The result—a cozy venue with a perfect, overlooking view of Manila.
Even before all the design plans for the party, I knew I had to have a memorabilia corner during one of Via’s milestones. I strategically placed the tables before the restaurant entrance so it would be the first thing everyone saw when they came out of the elevator. We displayes some of Via’s photos and other interesting items including her hospital birth band, her first pair of shoes, her first tutu, and even her first wig! =) For the flower lanterns I used cartolina paper with the theme colors.
Inside the restaurant, the first thing the guests noticed was the bar, which we turned into a gift corner and a wishing area. Some of the framed quotations and labels were handwritten. For the wishing area, I filled a small container with pasta and placed the pens and retro rainbow paper cut-outs. I tacked on the colorful laces to a corkboard so they can leave their wishes there.
The guest tables were designed with flower centerpieces with the theme colors (I begged the hotel florist to do it for me, the usual inclusion were plain white ones) and I added the printable cloud labels, frames with party signs, and small colorful candle holders which made each table even more eye-catching. Miniature glass baby bottles and pacifiers, paper straws with party flags, colorful napkins with party squares… all of these details made all the guests fall in love with the theme that they wanted to take everything home for keepsake!
The focal point of the whole venue was the dessert bar and beverage station. I wanted the kids to enjoy this part of the party, but as it turns out, the adults also loved it. The background was paper lanterns in different sizes. I was lucky to find a fabric that had the same color theme and used it as our table runner. Jenny Specialty cakes did a great job at making the cake pops, cupcakes, and Via’s dedication cake. I just added the toppers from HWTM printables, but my favorite was the one with Via’s photo and customized “The Dedication” label! Jenny was even kind enough to give us a smash cake for free. My baby loved it and the smash cake portion of the program had all of our guests laughing and taking photos of Via, who of course, enjoyed it more than we did.
Other treats served include Parisian macarons, jelly fruities, gummy bears, and my favorite, chocolate candies labeled ‘fancy favors.’ For the latter, I used small glass bottles, covered them using gold cupcake liners and sealed them with bakers’ strings. I cut doilies in half and put the ‘Oh Sugar!’ printable on top which made the favors even cuter! We also had lemon iced tea and strawberry juice drinks which were a big hit to the kids, and labeled bottled water to calm the guests’ sugar rush! =)
The dedication party was a huge success, thanks to all my suppliers. A special thank you goes out to Hostess Renee of HWTM for being so accommodating with my queries. Truly, this site has been a great source of inspiration for my baby’s party and I just can’t wait to plan for my future events. I know I can’t go wrong with all the rich resources from HWTM!
