We celebrated Catherine's first birthday with a sweet Lemonade Stand celebration. I've wanted to throw such an event for quite some time. Honestly, it was one of the first things that came to mind when I realized I would be having a baby girl with a Spring birthday! The entire event was a team effort! My wonderful husband and a friend of his built the lemonade stand out of pallet wood. My mom helped me cook and make lemonade and my best friend designed all the signs and invitations! We had 5 different types of lemonade and nurmerous sweet treats including individual lemon pies and pink lemonade cupcakes. Mason jars became a reoccuring theme as they were used for the lemonade and to serve homemade ice cream. The activities included classic outdoor games such as hula hoops and sidewalk chalk. I also set up a pretend lemonade stand for the children to enjoy. Every older child went home with a lemonade stand kit which included lemonade mix, straws, napkins, cups, crayons, a notebook and paper. Each baby went home with a hairclip that I made out of the fabric used for the party. The kids and adults alike enjoyed sampling every different lemonade (peach and watermelon were the most loved) The birthday girl enjoyed the sweet beverage as well. I used pink and yellow as the main colors but also included numerous floral fabrics, creams, and whites.
