Dean's Dance Party: A Rock N Roll 2nd Birthday (36 photos)
Dean, my youngest, turned two this spring. Like most two year olds, he loooooves to dance and sing. We figured it only made sense to give him a dance party for his birthday celebration!
For refreshments, we enjoyed disco ball cupcakes, microphone cake pops, "cha cha chips" and salsa, veggie with "disco dip," pretzel "drumsticks," and "footloose fruit." We served "tango tea" and "limbo lemonade" for drinks.
I kept the decorations simple, hanging a silver fringe curtiain (from Oriental Trading Company) across our garage door, and mounting a black backdrop made of foam core in front of that. The dessert table sat in front, decorated with disco ball Christmas ornaments (also from Oriental Trading). I attempted a mini marquee sign, made with cardstock that I spraypainted silver, and it looked pretty cool until the lights stopped working about 5 minutes before the party started. Live and learn.
For activities, we drug the giant, old big screen TV out of the basement, and hooked up the Wii for some Just Dance! and Glee Karaoke action. Favors were echo microphones from the Target dollar zone.
Everyone had fun, especially Dean. Keep dancin', little buddy!
