Awhile back, we took on the fun task of planning my son’s three-year-old birthday party, and boy, did we have a blast! Since my son, Leland, is right in the midst of that boyish age where cars, trucks and digging in the dirt are the best things in the world to him, we decided to take a playful approach with a construction theme.
The results were colorful oversized balloons, custom construction signs, and lots of tools throughout! Personalized hard hats and fun reflective safety vests for each little guest to wear were at the ready. A host of hands-on activities in the construction zone included a color me house, building blocks of all shapes and sizes as well as a work bench with cool objects to craft and hammer. Parents and kids alike also feasted on a menu of sophisticated tastes along with classic kid favorites! We served up cute mini orange traffic cone drinks (for the youngsters), dump trucks and buckets filled with homemade kettle potato chips, cheeseballs and desserts. Gourmet mini pizzas and sliders, truffle-infused wing dings, a flavorful Greek layered salad, assorted dips, cheeses, and veggies filled our saw horse tables and bellies. Construction-themed cookies and Leland’s personal favorite: a “Build Your Own” ice cream sundae bar with all the fixins’ satisfied even the sweetest sweet tooth!
