Operation Shower: County Fair Inspired Tablescape (44 photos)
I'd like to share photos from my tablescape design featured at Operation Shower's recent County Fair Inspired baby shower. This wonderful event was held at The Barclays in Jersey City, New Jersey and hosted by Special Guest & Emcee Melissa Joan Hart. As you may know, Operation shower is a non-profit organization that host baby showers all around the country honoring 40 deserving Military Moms-To-Be. I am so honored to have been invited again and to be able to give up to such amazing moms. Go to my blog to check my experience and table designs from last year's event (www.dreamersjoy/blog).
It was so exciting to have had the opportunity to again be surrounded by beautiful and deserving moms-to-be as well as to work aside a great group of talented women who like myself lent their time and talents to give back. Seven talented designers and I were invited and challenged to each create a County Fair Inspired Tablescape design for all guests. For this year’s theme, they asked us to incorporated the use of Fabrics from Carousel Designs and printables from the amazing Jennifer Sbranti from Hostess with the Mostess.
I chose to go with a Classic & Rustic yet Modern design look by incorporating Carousel Designs Yellow Striped fabric as runners and pairing it with their Red Gingham and Denim Blue custom napkins which laid over white basic linens and plates.
For the table setting, I used burlap inspired cardstock paper as placemats detailed with stars and stenciled animals (Rooster, Cow, Horse and Geese) in Red, Blue, Black and Yellow paint. For Favors, I used white food boxes for Mini Apple Pies which were embellished with the same Red Gingham fabric, Raffia and a cute Thank you label. I love making mommy pins for my clients’ baby shower so this event was not the exception so I found them to be perfectly fitting for it. The “Blue Ribbon” Inspired mommy pins were custom handmade and decorated with a “#1 Best Mom” label designed by my friend Cara Mcgrady at One Swell Studio. Each mom also took home a Coca-Cola which we adorned with a big adorable denim bow, a red striped straw and an adorable straw label that read “Baby, You’re a Firework!”
Centerpieces: My design was of course inspired by things you see a county fair so I chose to place my focused on a couple of things that I thought to be pretty popular. I had a "Popcorn" Cupcake Red Ferris Wheel on top of a hay block, "Ring Toss" game on ticket rolls and "Duck Fishing" game beautifully laying around two floral arrangements of blue hydrangeas, sunflowers and gerberas in county fair tickets decouped vases and adorned them with a cute "Let's Have some fun!" signage labels. I also added the handmade wodden county fair signage which I believe completed the classic look I was aiming for.
Lastly I am humbled and honored to share that I won First Place for this design challenge! This was certainly a special moment of gratitude for me as finding out amazing news truly serves as a motivator to continue to deliver work that is of quality, fun and creative as well as to continue to work hard on reaching my goals as a designer. Thank you again Amy Belle Isles and everyone at Operation Shower for the wonderful opportunity!
I hope you enjoyed all the photos!
