Our bride’s mom wanted to surprise her daughter with a Luau themed bridal shower. The couple, Erin and Chris, will be vacationing in Oahu for their honeymoon. We hosted the event at a private home in Encinitas. The location, with its palm trees and tropical pool, completely set the tone. We wanted to bring in bright pops of color with hot pinks, bright blues, neon greens, and pops of yellow. We made ALOHA letters to float in the entry of the pool to welcome guests to the party. For one of our bridal shower games, guests decorated coconuts. The creative juices were flowing (along with pina coladas and island mimosas). Fresh floral leis and bright yellow shell leis were offered to the girls to get them in the spirit. We also had a mixture of traditional grass skirts and handmade ribbon skirts for the girls to wear during their hula lesson. A fantastic hula dance trio performed then taught the group the hula. During the day, a chef prepared the luau feast on an open grill which filled the air with delicious luau BBQ aroma. We had a vintage ukulele to sign for a guestbook and different mad lib style side games to complement the couple’s wedding invitations. The ladies also hula hooped for a second game which brought out everyone’s youthful side (and big smiles). We were so happy to be apart of the celebration.
