SInce his curly fuzzy hair, soft chubby cheeks just make you feel like cuddling up to him and stroking the soft plush fur on his hair, selecting the theme for his first birthday was no brainer. We planned a teddy bear party for 35 people, selecting blue and brown as official party colors. I mailed out the hand-made invitations about three weeks in advance. Most signange and decoration stuff was DIY, e.g. the old photo frames got a make over with brown crepe paper and blue ribbon bows. Wallpapers were used as table runners and matching placements. The same wallpaper was used to make the party banner with our son´s pictures on it. I also made decorative paper fans out of blue and brown printing paper. Papa bear made wooden frames to match the entire theme. The food items were also kept with the teddy bear theme including:
Beary noses, Paw-tato honeycomb, Teddy burgers, Cub sandwiches, Beary hugs, Cutie pies, plush paws, cuddly jars.
I also added my son´s baby food jars dolled up with some blue ribbon and filled with biryani rice (it was lunch time) to the table and jazzed up the lids with brown teddy faces made from construction paper.
We also had a photo booth to create a lasting memory of the event. Most props were also hand-made.
Each teddy bear went home with a basket full of favors including home-made almond honey butter, a box of candies, biscuits and chocolate bars.
It was a great party! I had literally put my heart and soul into it by working on the tiny details. Hope my son would cherish the pictures some day!
