Hot Cocoa and Ice Skating are some of the best memories when you live in the Mitten State. Being a Stylist I wanted to take a fun and colorful turn on the trendy hot coco idea and make the details personalized for the Birthday girl and her friends. Jaelynn is my daughter, a girl who loves frilly dresses, the color torquoise, hot coco, smores, girly details and friends. I knew that the soft details of the angel wings, marshmellow and feather chandlier, birch wood, ruffles and pastel colors would make it such a lovely and magical party. My photographer Danyelle from DanyC Photography captured the party magically. She has such an eye for beautiful images and a heart for photgraphy that make my job just that much lovelier.
So many amazing details and vendors for this party made the birthday girl feel like an true princess. My friend and avid baker Linda from Frog Prince Cookie and Cake made the most delectable snowflake, birchwood and mitten cookies, and cake topper. When I told her that I wanted an fondant character topper of my daughter she captured the details brilliantly. I contacted Kris from KCreative to come on board and so glad she did. I pretty much gave her a few ideas to run with and she nailed it! Her attention to detail was just astounding and perfect! We also had beautiful fondant cupcake toppers from Renee at Austonishing Cakes LLC. She is an fondant master and I think can just create about anything I have thrown at her. She truly has a gift.

When it came to design the cake my favorite local bakery closed and I was scrambling last minute to find an substitute. So a backup plan was essential. A little tip is to dress up an grocery store cake with edible details and your guests may never know the difference. I used some fondant pieces Linda has originally made for the cake topper and paired them with the cake design I sketched out for the local bakery at Meijer. The bakers there did a great job at bringing my design to life, beautifully.
I knew when designing this party I had visions of feathers and accents of real birch wood. The setting for our party took place at our home that sits on a private pond. I knew that capturing the softness of the feathers and taking some of the outside elements in would add an dreamy touch. It was just perfect that it snowed so softly the morning before the party. The snow was georgeous and the girls had a blast ice skating. The pettie skirts that Korrie from Dreamspun supplied added the perfect girly details. I decided to dress Jaelynn in one of Dreamspun's dress that was perfect for the birthday girl. We also accented the outfits with plain shirts adorned with fun flower pins my friend Lindsey from Blue House Designs made for the theme. She also made the adorable sash that adorned Jaelynn's dress beautifully and finished with an simple lace crown from Chickapee Creations . The party hats that the party girls wore were from Keisha at Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams were the perfect finishing touch to bring all the fun details together. The loveliest paper with glitter and beautiful satin ribbon trimmed the hats perfectly.

One of my favorite projects I worked on were glow in the dark personalized pillowcases from Peggy at Cozy Comfy. I send her the invitation I created and she was able to make adorable mini glow in the dark pillowcases. They each had their names embellished on them for a keepsake to always cherish. The pillowcases also acted as fun favor bags for the girls. Inside each pillowcase were fun and girly mini chevron clutches from Tara at Uniquely You, yummy lip and body products from the ever so gracious Christina at Moodylicious, and gumball tubes from Jen at Bloom Designs Online and hair rosettes from Coco Rose Couture. The girls were delighted with all the goodies!

Having a winter birthday can be limiting at times living in Michigan. I knew that a big portion of the party would have to be inside so masking the surroudings was a task in itself. It is amazing really how you can really transform a space with easy ideas. I made an marshmellow chandlier with soft feathers that would hang over the main table. It looked like something straight out of an dream, so magical. Another DIY detail was silver dipped feathers and floral centerpieces with freesia, pink tulips, variegated pitt, wax flower, and feather details. The table was lined with fuzzy silver material and adorned with tableware from Sweet Shop Lulu, hand glittered candle holders and glasses from Kylie from Made by a Princess were the perfect handmade touch. Silver chiavari chairs lined both sides of the table while birch wood vases , tall mercury vases and soft pink candelabras from Events by I Candy completed the setup for an playful and girly party. Personalized pictures of the birthday girl in pink scroll frames added an personalized touch.

We braved to cold to go outside and get a few photos and let the girl ice skate on the pond. We are so glad we did, the girls had so much fun. We took some fun photos of the girl running around and grouped together with the large silver metallic balloons and the tassels make by the sweet and talented Carmen of The Flair Exchange. We even did a few fun photos of the birthday girl blowing some bright blue glitter. She loved every moment of turning seven!

Now it was time to head back inside and warm up with some hot cocoa and roast some marshmallows. This was the best idea yet with gourmet marshmallows from Kimberley at Kimberley's Kitchen, they are heaven. She handcrafted snowflake and mitten shaped marshmallows and yummy graham crackers. They roasted the smores over tea light glittered candles which was perfect for a children's birthday celebration. I am so amazed with how the party turned out with some amazing vendors and memories to last forever.
