Police 1st Birthday (44 photos)
Planning this party was very special to me. When my dear friend and amazing photographer Renata [from Photos by Renata] asked me to plan her son's 1st birthday party I was delighted. Her wish was to honor her husband and all hard working police officers out there. She made it clear that she wanted a "baby police theme party" and a lot of chevron! I put my heart and soul into creating this moment for my client. I personally start my planning process with the invitation. My invitations set the tone of the atmosphere I want to create.
I created a folded Police Car Invitation. The outside had a super cute and fun Baby Police Boy with a pacifier! On The inside I used black and white chevron, police line do not cross, and a creative way of inviting the guests to the party!
The party was decorated in chevron and polka dots. The "Police Line Do Not Cross" made it into the background overlaying a wall of aqua chevron. The famous "Thin Blue Line" was everywhere around, including the centerpieces filled with beautiful white hydrangeas.
On a corner, milk jars were served with donuts and customized with "Donut Drink and Drive"! Next to it, a desert table with monthly photos of the birthday boy, two glass jars filled with toy police cars and a very special frame in honor of all law enforcement heroes with "Not All Heroes Wear Capes" decorated with "thin blue line" and silver badges.
The highlight of the party was the sweets table. There you would find "Miranda Rice" (Rice Krispies squares) , "Traffic Jam" (mini jars with strawberry jam) , mini containers resembling a flash light filled with blue candy, Police car shaped sugar cookies, gourmet chocolate candy (a traditional must at any Brazilian Party), and of course... donuts!
Kids had a blast at their own table with many treats such as "Cop Corn" bags, Frosted cheerios named "mini donuts", red cones with mini oreos, police line cups with goldfish, yellow polka dot mini cups filled with veggie chips, and a mini cup with M&M.
Instead of the traditional cake, a new trend was served! It’s called "cake to go". Guests were served individual cakes, baked by grandma in mini foil containers customized with the party's logo.
Now! If planning this party would save me from traffic tickets... I would do it all over again! Haha! Just kidding! To my client, thank you for teaching me so much about the "thin blue line family"! I can appreciate the unity of the families serving our community! Police officers are true heroes! May God keep them safe!
