“I always wanted to have a gender reveal party but didn’t want the typical pink or blue theme. So we decided on a 007 & Mission Impossible theme. The color story was black, red, white and gold. I wanted to create a sleek yet inviting dessert table with fun items like rock candy, gold cake pops, cupcakes, red velvet cake shooters and gumballs. For the décor, I enlisted the help of one of my great friends and fabulous floral designer, Ashlee Gadson of Snazzy Events, who created a stunning and elegant floral tablescape for our dinner party. We used a combination of chic black and white stripes and chevron paired with gold sparkle. Irene Farrimond, from Luxe Branding Co., created the beautiful event stationery and Michelle White, of Michelle White Photography captured the visual essence of this event.
Our guests received a video invitation via email, inviting them to a secret black tie dinner party at a private residence. They were told to come as secret agents and were given a mission to solve clues to reveal baby Duncan’s gender. They also received top secret packets in the mail (which included personal passports) with instructions leading up to the event. On the day of the event, once guests arrived and checked in at the secret agent booth, they were given a top secret packet to complete various missions around the house that included placing their vote in the ballot box and answering old wives tale questions about the target (the proud mommy). After a four course dinner, guests were led into the library where a video played of Baby Duncan (a talking sonogram) introducing them to the real fun – the scavenger hunt of clues that would lead to the gender reveal. The guests had to look for 12 specific clues around the home that eventually led them downstairs to a large decorated black box. When the expected parents opened the box, blue balloons came out that featured the baby’s gender...a boy!
