Sunshine and Sprout Joint Birthday Party (16 photos)
With their birthdays just a few weeks apart, we thought it would be fun to celebrate our daughter's 5th and 1st birthdays together. We came up with a "Sunshine and Sprout" theme, which worked so well for the Spring! It's too bad that it rained that day, though we made plenty of our own sunshine indoors!
The kids loved their chocolate "dirt" cupcakes, topped with crushed mint chocolate cookies and "planted" with fresh mint sprigs or green fondant leaves. The wooden spoon "shovels" were perfect for digging in to these potted desserts.
We found silicone baking cups that looked just like terra-cotta pots, so they were safe and easy for the preschoolers to handle.
The DIY glitter "5" and "1" were made by laying a sheet of parchment paper over the printed numbers, placing a toothpick over the number and then tracing over it with hot glue and sprinking with glitter.
Our carrot bubble favor necklaces were "planted" in neat rows, ready to be harvested!
