12 Dancing Princesses 5th Birthday (10 photos)
Like many young girls my daughter cannot get enough of Barbie, so when she asked to have a 12 Dancing Princesses party for her fifth birthday I couldn't wait to beging planning! I didnt want to have the normal Barbie themed party where her face was plastered everywhere, but I also wanted my daughter to love it and have a great time. We decided to make it a sleepover party (yes I know I'm nuts !), so there were only 5 girls total. I was able to complete the party on a totally tiny budget.
I purchased a whole lot of cardstock ranging in color from Purple and Pink to blue, orange and green, so I could re-use it for later invites to other parties. For the invitations I printed the party inforamtion on pink cardstock, cut the edges with craft scissors to give it a scalloped look, layered it onto purple cardstock with the edges also cut with craft scissors and stuck some 3D scrapbooking ballet slippers and crown stickers to the top layer.
I grew up dancing so for the decorations I took old ballet shoes, dress up crowns and wands and placed them around the house.
For the party favors I found some purple tutus and silver wands, from the Dollar Tree, for the girls to wear. The birthday girl wore a gorgeous pink velvet and tulle princess dress (thanks Target!) with a crown.
With the help of crepe paper I created a beautiful dance environment in the living room to resemble the 12 Dancing Princesses bedroom, which lead down to the playroom as the dancing pavillion. We had the movie playing in the living room and music in the basement, or Golden Pavillion, as my daughter called it.
Hope you enjoy!
