Inspiration: The orange “happy birthday” Paul Frank t-shirt (in one of the pictures).

It is so wonderful to be able to create a special party for other children but when you get a chance to create a party for your own child, you have to bring the cuteness!! This “Julius the Monkey” 1st birthday party was for my son, Jad. Let me start of by saying I’m slightly obsessed with Paul Frank and Target. When they joined forces and began to offer Paul Frank for Target, it made my day!! Walking through Target one day, what do I see but the orange ‘happy birthday’ Julius the Monkey shirt and that was what I needed to start planning this party! I used the shirt as the color pallet. Focusing mostly on yellow, blue and orange.

The party was held at a pavilion Hembree Park, in Roswell, GA. Jad and friends enjoyed visiting the colorful candy buffet that included Paul Frank cookies and banana cotton candy! Guests feasted on an assortments of sweets like chocolate chip banana bread, brownies, cupcakes (with the most adorable fondant monkey cupcake topper) and deliciously birthday cake! Jad and his friends had the opportunity to create their own little stuffed animal at the build-a-monkey craft table. The monkeys’ little t-shirts even had a custom iron-on that matched the other party graphics and birth certificate.

There were even a few surprise visits! The first was Skittles the Clown, who performed lots of fun magic tricks, face painting and balloon art. The second was by an ice-cream truck! The children LOVED running up to the truck and picking out their ice-cream. The third surprise was a visit by a very special little monkey friend. It was such a cool spin on a Monkey birthday party and made for such a special 1st birthday for little Jad.
