After months of planning for my daughter Jenesis's first birthday, the day finally arrived and here are the results.  I found inspiration from all types of sources, but the biggest inspiration came from tomkatstudio.

The invitations are simple ladybugs made from black and red cardstock.  I have seen them made before, but I added a circle of silver glitter, just to make it pop and black and white brads to add to the theme.

The dessert bar was my favorite to make.  It had everything from candy coated pretzels, cherry sours to cupcakes. My sister and mother sent me my very first cake pop maker and boy was it fun to break in.  The whole family enjoyed the fruit of this labor of love. Just to make sure we had something nutritious to eat, we had spaghetti and meatballs.  To wash it all down, we served Bug Juice (grape and cherry Hawaiian Punch).

Decorations consisted of sewn crepe paper, balloons, tissue paper flowers and pictures of Jenesis from throughout the year.

The ladybug cake turned out well.  Everyone was so full on cake pops, we didn't have space for cake also.  It consists of a bottom sheet cake, square on top and ladybug made out of a pyrex bowl for the body and a small cup for the head.  All layers were covered in fondant with accents of green leaves and red circles.

Gift bags consisted of a miniature greenhouse, a bug theme toy, ladybug bubbles and a bug themed necklace.  Each child received a bag and had the opportunity to fill their bag with all the goodies from the dessert bar.

My husband and I did the photography and we are by no means professional.  Whatever seemed pleasing to the eye, we snapped.

The paper goods was the most time consuming because I had never designed cupcake toppers or labels to that degree.  After surfing and finding sites like this one, I decided to give it a try.

We played Pin the Dot on the Ladybug.  Very fun game for all ages.

There was so much more I wanted to do with this party, but I am pleased with the way it came out.
