I am the pastry chef at Crema Cafe in Cambridge, MA. To celebrate the launch of our new events catering line, we threw a party with four different themed sweet tables. This was an engagement party table dedicated to my recently engaged (and very much in love) sister. We chose a romantic color pallette of pinks, creams and whimsical Parisian inspired pastries to set the mood.
Our centerpiece was a cream cupcake tower filled with gorgeous pink and cream roses from Brattle Square Florist. We made the backdrops out of paper cutouts with hearts and the couple's initials. We also made macaron topiaries as a whimsical take on the traditional croquembouche.
We paired fun and interesting flavors with traditional french pastries to add a whimsical twist. The desserts include vanilla bean macarons, peanut butter and jelly macarons, almond dacquouse cake with lemon curd and raspberry gelee, banana split whoopie pies, coconut macaroons, and cherry rhubarb tartlets topped with toasted meringue. The watermelon limeade accompanied passed glasses of champagne. We also had ribbon wrapped favor boxes with a duo of french macarons.
