Haunted Halloween Housewarming (29 photos)
recently moved into an old house and thought it would be perfect to throw a Haunted Housewarming. I am obsessed with Halloween so it was perfect excuse to throw an adult party!
I love all things glittered! When I saw all these glittered skulls (from Target), I knew I had to use them. The ghoulish dessert table featured lots of DIY items - as it was my housewarming, I really wanted to try my hand at making some of the yummies. The caramel apples were so easy and tasted delicious! The dessert table also featured "pushing daisy" cups. I found these cool dessert cups on clearance at Solutions. Each daisy cup was filled with vanilla pudding and topped off with some crushed oreos. I really wanted to include lots of different kinds of cupcakes. Secretly we are all kids at heart and kiddos love cupcakes! The adorable 3D fondant cupcake toppers were from Two Sugar Babies, how cute are they!? Pumpkin, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Cappuccino, and Chocolate Chip cupcakes were all made by Jilly's Cupcakery and were so tasty!
Other items included were Eyeball Jello Cups, Sugar Cookies, (homemade) Cake Pops, and Pumpkin Smore Pushpops (using pumpkin spiced cookies instead of gram crackers). My guests also loved the candy table that was created to match the dessert table.
The hit of the party had to be the Poisoned Popcorn bar! I found the pumpkin "spitting up" guac picture on pinterest absolutely hysterical so I wanted to recreate it but with popcorn. I still giggle every time I see it. Guests munched on Cake Batter popcorn (my favorite), heavenly crunch, cajun and strawberry shortcake all made by the folks at Heavenly Gourmet Popcorn.
Finally, the drinks! Playing "bartender" had to be the best part of the night! I was so excited to try out the drinks that I have seen floating around pinterest. We had two haunted cocktails, a sour apple martini and a screwdriver. Both were made using vodka that we tinted black with Wilton's drink coloring. I also whipped up two shooters that my guests just LOVED. The first being a cotton candy-tini, so easy and yummy. Place cotton candy in a mini cup and pour chilled vodka over it. The cotton candy melts and it becomes the sweetest little shooter ever. The second shooter, courtesy of pinterest, is simply key lime sherbet and Tequila.
