This bright and bold modern Alice In Wonderland party was inspired by the Tim Burton movie version of this classic tale. It's styled for a wedding related event but could easily be adapted to a children's party wtih a few twists. A typical Mad Hatter tea party was set with vintage china, rich desserts, and whimiscal nic nacs.
First we set a color palette of red, black, hot pink, and turquoise, then used patterns in unexpected combinations to add just enough quirkiness. I used lots of embellishments like ribbons, rhinstone buckels, and layering fabrics, placemats, and napkins. This creates depth on a table and and ties all the elements together.
The best part of a tea party is the food! A triple layer mouse cake with whipped cream and topped with fresh berries, cupcakes with strawberries with a yummy glaze over the top and a wide array of assorted candy play to the wonderful indulgence of a sweet afternoon tea party.
Of course you have to have favors for your guests to take home. These little white boxes had candy ring pops nestled inside on a bed of sixlets. Then tied with some of our Alice In Wonderland printables.
