sweet shoppe birthday (14 photos)
I'm by no means a pro at parties, but I have certainly caught the party bug after looking at so many beautiful parties on this and other great websites/blogs!
I wanted to do something great for my daughter's 2nd birthday and since she had suddenly become a sugar addict, I thought a sweet shoppe theme(even though its a common one) would be perfect. Also in south Louisiana in August, every party turns into a pool party so you can see a few of the kids in their bathing suits!
I found a fabric on sale that just screamed candy, so I used those colors as my inspiration for the color palette. I found candies in those colors at my local warehouse store as well as oriental trading.
I had been collecting glasses. vases, and jars at various stores over the months prior to the party. I found some great ones at wal-mart and even second hand stores in Baton Rouge.
I made the sweet shoppe sign with foam board and cardstock from hobby lobby and I just printed out the letters in the color and font I wanted on my computer, cut them out, and glued them to the board. I you-tubed "how to make a perfect oval" and found a really neat way to do it with 3 small tacs and some string.
I got colored chinese take out containers from party city and the paper laterns for outside online. All the kiddos loved packing the candy in their boxes and they actually really loved the toothbrushes too!
I got the cake from Suga Rush Bakery in Plaquemine, La and my friend Erin Lato of ELL photography did the amazing pictures.
Overall the party was a big success and all the kids had a wonderful time, i can't wait till I do it all again next year!!!
Note: I have more photos but for some reason they didn't upload, I tried to create another album with no luck. If anyone knows what might be going on, please let me know. Thanks
