Moose Themed Baby Shower (11 photos)
I was so lucky to be able to host a shower for my oldest friend. From the minute she knew she was expecting she called her baby "moose", none of us is really sure why but moose it was. I knew from the first time I heard her affectionally refer to "moose" that an unconventional rustic moose themed baby shower it would be!
I began collecting moose paraphernalia in August for a late November shower not sure how much I would find vs what I would need to DIY. I actually got quite lucky when the Christmas things started showing up in the stores. Check out the amazing moose onesie that I found, it was even in the right colours for the shower!
I created a custom "moose arriving" graphic based on moose crossing highway signs that I used on all of the printed materials.
I used a branch from my yard to create a tree which I hung with felt moose christmas ornaments. I made two kinds of body scrub - lemon salt and brown sugar vanilla (to match the colour scheme of course) - which I packaged in baby food jars with custom moose labels as a thank you for attending token, guests also took moose christmas ornaments from the tree.
While the cake that I had planned didn't materialize as hoped (long story) we still had moose sugar cookies and cupcakes with moose toppers. The rest of the food was fairly traditional shower food including deviled eggs, tea sandwiches and chocolate covered cheesecakes.
Did you know that IKEA makes a moose rocking horse? Neither did I but it made the perfect gift from my son to his new playmate - It also played double duty as decor for the party. I also found a "where is the moose?" t-shirt that my son wore to the party.
Unfortunately I got a little distracted as the party started trying to host, make sure the mom-to-be got everything she needed and chasing my toddler around so I am missing some of the photos that I wish I had - note to self - delegate photography duties!
I used a lovely booked called "M is for Moose" as a guest book having everyone sign the inside for baby Moose. While we no longer refer to the baby as Moose - a beautiful baby girl named Brianna - I hope that this will be a treasured keepsake for both mom and baby.
