This gender reveal party is one thats very near and dear to me because it was designed for my sister and her hubby who are expecting their first child together! The inspiration came from a shower curtain, I saw at the stores while shopping for the holidays. It was a boy/girl pictograph pattern which I thought made the perfect theme for this party. We decided to make the reveal intimate and fun so we invited 15 of our closest family members to first share the good news with. I went for a more subtle and neutral color palette of soft mint green, sage, chocolate, tan and teal. And of course, using our own version of the pictograph image was a no-brainer. I contacted Arlene Saint-Hilaire of Sweets by Arlene (who is also great at graphic design) and asked her to make the cake pops which would conceal the baby’s gender by using pink or blue inside the cake pops. Besides the doctor, she was the only one who knew the sex of the baby! Lucky her! Arlene designed the lovely pictograph round tags in our color palette and I asked her to add a (?) in the middle to make it interesting. She also made me some extra ones with the word “boy” and “girl” which I used to make pins for our guests to wear once they had casted their votes on the tally blackboard. Our family enjoyed a nice dinner as they shared childhood stories about the mom and dad to be. They also LOVED the idea of casting their votes and although most of them had their minds set out on a “girl” vote; they were pretty excited and hesitant to take a bite into one of those cake pops! For the dessert table, I created 2 pendant banners and matching cupcake toppers with some mint green, polka dot and tan ring print cardstock paper. The banners were assembled with some beautiful sage silk ribbon which hung nicely on the wall and white tablecloth. The desserts consisted of sugar cookies, carrot cupcakes, white chocolate mints, pop corn, pretzels, and cotton candy which were kept simple as I didn’t want them to take away from the cake pops. Later came the actual REVEAL and I am OVERJOYED to announce that my sister and her hubby will be welcoming a sweet baby GIRL this coming May! :0)
