I found a lot of the inspiration for this party on Pinterest (my biggest addiction)!  There are so many great parties and ideas to be found there.  So I created an entire board dedicated to Emily's 1st birthday party!  I wanted to go all out for this party.  After all, she's only going to have a firstbirthday party one time!  I wanted it to be special.  So I pinned ideas and planned for this party for about six months.

I didn't spare any expense on the decor for this party.  Actually, I guess I did because although this party was over the top, it was done on a budget.  Most of the decor was a DIY project of some sort.  There's a toss up for my favorite part of the decor.  I really, really loved the candy buffet, but I also really loved the wreath I made and hung on the front door.  It really added a special touch to the party and set the tone for the party as the guests entered our home.  I also had a floor to ceiling "curtain" backdrop that hung in our foyer (and blocked the stairs to keep guests from going upstairs).  This was the first thing the guests saw when they entered our home.  I hung monthly pictures of Emily from the curtains with coordinating ribbon.

Food and Drink

The party was around lunch time so we had a burger bar with mini slider hamburgers that my husband grilled.  We also had several sides such as baked beans, macaroni and cheese for the kids, pasta salad, and deviled egs.  We had beer and mimosas and custom water bottles.  We also had lemonade in a cute beverage dispenser.  We had cups with chalkboard labels on them so people could write their names on it.  We also had pink striped paper straws!

Dessert Table

The dessert table was one of my favorite parts of the party!  I had several clear glass apothecary jars filled with wonderful pink candies.  We had sixlets, strawberry marshmallows, jordan almonds, pink chocolate dipped marshmallows, and chocolate dipped pretzels with pink sprinkles.  There were also cupcakes and, of course, the amazing pink owl smash cake!

All in all, it was a great time!  The adults and the kids had a blast.  And most importantly, Emily had a really great time and enjoyed being the princess for the day!
