Dolly and Me Tea Party Brunch (30 photos)
This Tea Party was for my daughter's 2nd birthday brunch. The invites were made to look like tea bags and hand delivered in antique tea cups. Girls dressed in their tutus and boys wore ties.
The decor was kept simple and sweet and focused on the details. We created a child-size tea room. We set a child's table with china and a lace tablecloth and florals in tea cup centerpieces. vintage fabric curtains flanked the doorway to the "tearoom."
Since our daughter's happiest time is the morning we chose to do a brunch. We served "sugar" cereal which was a treat for the kids and flower-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. My mother made strawberry cupcakes and my sister made tea cup and "time for tea" cookies for dessert. We had chocolate strawberries for the adults as well. For drinks we served pink lemonade. Because most of the children still used sippy cups we upcycled frappaccino glasses into "classy sippy cups" and drilled holes in the lids.
The children started by decorating paper crowns. We had a large trunk of dress up clothes and with some vintage quilts we turned the whole living room into a giant fort! We also set up a tiny tea set and table for play as well.
Each child got to fill a bag with candy from the "Sweet Shop" before they went home. The also got to keep their spoon with their names on them. Needless to say the kids had fun and left hopped up on sugar!
