The Party Inspiration
This Happy Haunting party a Halloween celebration that we shared with friends and family a couple of weeks before Halloween night.  It seems that Halloween has become such a busy day.  We hop from classroom events during the day to trick-or-treating, and manning the door for our little ghoulish visitors after dark.  So, to give those costumes a trial run and give the kids a chance to wear them more than once, we throw a party a couple weeks in advance.

The Decor
We like the not-so-spooky Halloween.  Festive pumpkin orange paired with black and cream made this occasion fun for kids, and still sophisticated enough for the adult guests.  As a family event, we had guests of all ages, from 2 to 92 and created décor with a pumpkin theme to bring in whimsy and elegance at the same time.

The Dessert Table
We offered salted caramel pears resting in Autumn Nights Dessert Skirtz cupcake wrappers as a fun twist on the traditional caramel apple.  We used various designs of the cupcake wrappers from the collection to create the bunting as well as dressing up the desserts.  On the dessert table, we served mini pecan tarts, spiced pumpkin cupcakes, and toffee popcorn alongside the salted caramel pears.

The Activities
We held a costume contest and awarded prizes for the most original, funniest, and best group costumes.  Pumpkin bowling, painting pumpkins, and other simple games kept the guests busy and happy.

The Party Favors
A popcorn buffet was set for the guests to fill a Halloween treat bag with their favorite popcorn mix.
