Hostess With The Mostess

This Shakespeare-inspired 19th birthday party consisted mainly of a buffet dinner and a movie (Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing.)

Guests first received a linen finish invitation with a green background and dark purple text with a Shakespeare quote to set the scene.

Color-coordinated balloons greeted guests at the gate and the front door and served as decoration in the event space. Because this was a small get-together, the decorations were simple and limited to balloons and a few lovely flower arrangements of purple tulips, purple alstromeria, purple stock and other flowers.

The buffet table was covered in an ivory, damask tablecloth and decorated with an arrangement of purple tulips in a green vase. Green porcelain plates and white and green napkins helped tie the look together. The menu consisted of:

Brie & Apple Tart
Vegan Balsamic Asparagus Crepes
Assorted Crackers & Baguette Slices with Broiled Rosemary, Orange & Sea Salt Chutney
Sweet Lemon Scones
Vegan Chocolate Bundt with Lavender Earl Grey Glaze and Blackberries

The crowning jewel of the buffet table was most certainly the cake, topped with an adorable (and super simple) spin on the popular cake bunting: green and purple curly ribbon tied between two wooden skewers with the ends curled with a pair of scissors!

Drinks, including Lavender Earl Grey and Herbal Rose teas and lemon water, were served from the kitchen island with retro water glasses and vintage teacups.

Guests were treated to Lavender Infused Sugar favors with tags featuring a Shakespeare quote on their way out which had been displayed in a sweet green bundt pan on the gift table during the party.
