We recently moved away from all our friends and family in NJ to a small town in Central Illinois. Well I knew I definitely wanted to have a party for my son's first birthday but I knew it would be small because we did not have many people to invite. So I decided I would just do a dessert table, and what better for dessert than Cookies and Milk! First and foremost I decided to stay within a small budget because in the end there would only be about six of us so it would be a waste to have this huge party for such a small group. So I started looking online for ideas and the light bulbs started going off. Our new home has this awesome old wagon in the yard and the previous owners built a western style shed to match it. So i knew it would be a great back drop for the party. So I decided to stick with a vintage country feel. For the backdrop on the cake table I used a wall shelf that I had lying around and placed it on two candle holders to give it some height. I bought some picture frames and spray painted them white to display pictures of my son throughout his first year. I had these pictures printed in black and white to stick with the vintage feel. They also came in handy for a collage I displayed on some string with clothes pins. For the main table, The Cookies and Milk, I used cookie jars I already owned. I purchased some old milk bottles at the local antique shop for the milk and also for display. For the classic milk bottles I used the Starbucks Frappucinno bottles that were emptied and cleaned. I found some block letters at Hobby Lobby that I painted white, and for decoration some simple white lanterns from Party City. The only thing I had made for this party was the birthday banner which I purchased on Etsy from ToadallyParties shop. In the end it was very simple but so adorable and everyone loved it. I could not have been happier because my vision came together for around 70 dollars! Cant beat that :)
