Sweet Design Company teamed up with European Patisserie, a West End Toronto bakery, to showcase a selection of their fabulous desserts. To give an Old World aesthetic to this photo shoot we chose a historic Toronto venue with graceful carvings, Roman columns and romantic views of the lake.

Our starting point was the gold dessert table itself which serves as a display piece in the patisserie window. We brought in a few other gold accents like risers and a cake pedestal with tear drop hanging crystals to provide a little extra sparkle.

The decision to use purple as the primary color came from the blueberry French Macarons. When assembled into a tower the pale purple macarons became a striking decor piece as well as a decadent dessert. The meringue drop tower is another interesting cake alternative for clients who'd like something a little outside of the ordinary for their shower or wedding. White meringue was used to provide contrast to the purple but it can be dyed to work with any color palate.
To showcase their sweets from both sides of the Atlantic, European Patisserie created a variety of bite size pastries. French treats like vanilla and raspberry petit fours, sables, almond balls, and cream puffs provided European style dessert options. Other sweets like red velvet coconut cake pops, a lemon mini cake, chocolate truffles, sweetheart candy and grape rock candy were North American style dessert additions.

As our photo shoot was in a public place it attracted quite a bit of attention - everyone wanted to know if they could eat the treats when we were finished!
