Dessert Table/Toppings Bar/Ice Cream Bar:
The dessert party was definitely the focal point of the party. We created a backdrop using blue and white tissue garlands and pale pink curtains. It was a super windy day but the movement of the garlands actually ended up looking great! We made the pale pink ruffle table skirt using a bed skirt from target, some white eyelet ribbon and some pale pink pom pom trim. We painted 3 wooden crates (found at Michaels) in pale pink and blue to add some height to the table. We used white and pink milk glass cakestands. The cake was super simple but so cute. We wanted the frosting to look like hot fudge melting down the sides. We made the cake topper using a wooden number, some blue paint and a wooden skewer. The ice cream cone candles were found at Beaucoup. We served M&Ms, Reese’s, nuts, crushed Oreos, whip cream and sprinkles as toppings and of course served strawberry and chocolate syrup in old school milk jugs. We dipped maraschino cherries in white chocolate and plated them in blue ceramic egg crates found at Anthropologie. We made a few easy ice cream-themed treats such as ice cream cone cake pops, Rice Krispy treat “popsicles”, brownie fudge sundaes in waffle cone bowls and ice cream cone sugar cookies... and tons of sprinkles! Guest could choose from chocolate dipped waffle cones, sugar cones or cups labeled with “my ice cream!”. We ordered adorable wooden spoons from Etsy and made all of the paper products and labels to pull the look together. We set the ice cream off to the left of the dessert table and used metal beverage tins filled with ice to keep it cold. We made an ice cream banner using our Silhouette machine and added an additional layer of cardstock to serve as the fudge topping with sprinkles! We also used a great vintage-inspired beverage cart to house the ice cream scoops, cups, and plastic “milk bottles” with pink and blue striped straws filled with pink lemonade for the kiddos.
We styled the food table to give it a similar vintage feel. We served mini sliders, chicken fingers, watermelon, popcorn in little cones and French fries (repackaged in the most adorable little paper bags found on Etsy). We used hanging baskets and wooden tiered stands to display the food and wrote the “menu” on a mini chalkboard and hung it in front of the table.
We created a children’s table using mismatched wooden and pink metal chairs. We covered the table with a white table skirt, pink overlay and made a runner using light blue scalloped paper placemats and ribbon. We found some great vintage ceramic ice cream parfait vessels on Ebay and filled them with pink carnations. We also put out a white bistro/parlor style table with DIY pink chair cushions.
We made the invitations using ice cream scoops cut from cardstock on our Silhouette machine. We ordered cute “I Scream for Ice Cream” stamps from Zazzle to complete the look.
