We wanted to throw a birthday party that was perfectly suited for my 4 year old son and my 2 year old daughter. We wanted both sets of friends to have fun, their parents to be able to enjoy themselves, and a great theme to make lasting memories. I am obsessed with shabby chic, so I took that obsession and a little play on a country theme and transformed our neighborhood park into the "biggest bash this side of the Mississippi". My colors were turquoise and pink. The decor was all handmade shabby chic. We served finger lickin' BBQ (tri tip, fried chicken, baked beans, corn, potato salad, pb&j for the kids, hot dogs, and fruit). We had games: potato sack races, knock the can down, and a ring toss game. I made a town (named after my son..."Trent-Town") out of cardboard boxes for the kids to play in. We rented hay bails, We hired a blue grass band for dancing. We had a roper there to perform a rope show. Last but not least, we had two darling ponies that make the kids over-the-moon happy. We had old milk bottles with a label reading, "The Rootin' Tootin'est Party this side of the Mississippi" as well as water bottles with the same label. For favors, I painted pails and tied ribbon around them, blinged some clothes pins and filled a burlap sack inside them with fun goodies such as silly glasses, hand cuffs, sheriff badge, bubbles and more. We had a desert table with "award winning pies", two fabulous cakes, cake pops, and brownies. I also adorned the tables with fresh peonies and hydrangeas, stick mustaches and lips, spurs, and hay. One of our quotes of the day was, "Ropes & Spurs, Sparkles & Bling, Don't Blame Us, It's a Savy Thing" (Savy is our love name for our daughter Savannah). We also did a play on words with our son's Trent's image as an "outlaw". Both of those signs were posted on trees all around the event. I custom made signs to label everything from the food to the entertainment. The food area was adorned with twinkle lights and lanterns, the trees were connected with a clothes line full of pictures of my kids favorite times. Most importantly, everyone had a fabulous time together and made beautiful memories.
