We helped style an amazing backyard carnival 6th birthday party for my niece, Maggie. My sister-in-law, Heather really wanted the party to focus around FUN for the kiddos and true-blue carnival games. We helped her pull together her ideas and create a cohesive look using a bright, vibrant color palette, adorable paper products/signage, a fabulous entryway to the “games” area, a vintage-inspired concession/dessert table including a backdrop made-up of more than 350 plastic ball-pit balls, and many more DIY details. More info provided below:

The Concession/Dessert Table:
We hot-glued more than 350 plastic balls to create a bright and fun backdrop for our refreshments table. We used vintage touches such as an old coca cola crate to hold the cotton candy poofs and old-fashioned coca cola bottles filled with gumballs to hold giant swirly pops. The old-fashioned popcorn maker and boxes were a perfect accent to the table. We also gave boxes of animal crackers to the little ones.

The Games:
Heather was super organized when it came to running the party so she wanted to divide the entrance section (bounce houses, face painting and photo booth) from the carnival games section. The kids all entered the games area through the “GAMES” arch (we made the sign using paper mache letters, some red paint and twine). Heather completed construction of each game station: Sweet Ring Toss, Jello Eating Contest, Balloon Stomp, Ping Pong Pounce, Toilet Paper Toss, Knock Em’ Down (bean bag toss) plus she organized a potato sack race and wet sponge toss as post-activities! Each child was given a prize bag with custom label and matching name tag upon entering through the carnival gate. So they collected different prizes at each game station (like clown noses, ring pops and pixie stix).
