A recent celebration of my birthday gave me the perfect excuse to style an Indian Inspired High Tea for my closest friends.

When researching for this event I was immediately drawn to the intricate design of the henna patterns and also the rich viobrant colours of the indian tapestry. Early on it became apparent that I would love to recreate the mini backdrop in full scale which I found on the blog http://blog.heylook.fi. With permission from the lovely ladies at Heylook I t took around 1000 mixed gold and fuschia cupcake liners to create my backdrop.

The rich teal table cloths and fuscia chair sashes added a real sense of luxary to the room. The table setting was kept quite modern in crisp white with gold touches. 16 bunches of fuschia carnations immersed in vases of orange lentil seeds made up the table centerpeices. (By no means a cheap option on mothers day weekend!!)

High Tea sweets on offer were an assortment of petite fours, rich vanilla and orange mud cupcakes, an assortment of macarons, creamy rice phirini (an indian rice pudding dessert), mango lassi and guests were also sereved ginger cardimom chai tea. As a personal touch, each tea setting was set with a hand piped henna design cookie in a bold orange and gold pattern.

The dessert table offered more macarons, madelines iced in pops of orange, turquoise, yellow and fuschia royal icing, an assortment of candy including sixlets, jellybeans and bon petites. A dense vanilla mud cake and also a rich orange mud cake in which only the top tier was edidable. Both cakes were covered in fondant and delecately piped in the most equisite henna designs.

Guests were given baby elephants with trunks up of course as take home favours with a hand wrapped henna inspired chocolate bar.
