We recently hosted a party for a friend who was visiting from Europe. She would be in the country for just a short time and this was a way for heer to see many old friends at one time. What better theme for a party to reminisce with an old friend than a garden party?
We all know that inspiration comes from eveywhere. In this case, the decor evolved around the hot pink cake stand that was just crying out for a hot pink and white cake. Against the white background, the pink, kiwi green and turquoise accents were perfect for the theme. Much of the decor was gathered over a several week period from many different local sources, including craft, party and discount stores and combind with items already owned.
The food also revolved around the garden theme. The dessert table included Raspberry Meringue Swirls, decorated almond sugar cookies, cupcakes displayed on a custom DIY stand with custom wraps, and, of course, the cake. Two tiers of lemon cake with strawberry buttercream icing, decorated with hand made gumpaste dahlias.
Sadly, only the first wave of guests saw how prettily the party was styled, as the weather was uncooperative that day. We had to grab everything and head inside while it rained and rained and rained. Luckily, we were able to get some pictures first.
