Hostess With The Mostess

My son LOVES trains, so it was a no-brainer when picking his birthday theme. I didn't want to do a commercialized Thomas the train party, so I decided to base it around his favorite bedtime story "The Goodnight Train". I tried to incorporate night time elements like the moon, stars and soft shades of blue and yellow.

For the dessert table, I made a dessert train. The engine was a 3D train cake made by one of my talented friends, Kelly. I spray painted plastic tubs for the train carts  (inspired by parties on Pinterest) and hot glued mini swirly lollipops for the wheels.

For the food table, I made a backdrop using matching strands of ribbon and stars cut out of cardstock. We also had star shaped sandwiches and crescent moon chicken salad sandwiches.
