Hostess With The Mostess

This 40th birthday was a surprise party for two great friends.  It was held in a tent in the backyard of one of their homes (they were under the impression that a baby shower was going to be held there).  When the boys showed up they were over the top surprised!  

The party was a large but casual event with a country feel.  Burlap and red herringbone fabric were used throughout the tent as decorations and table cloths.  A large Beer Cake was created to be used as a focal point on one of the bars.  BBQ diiner featuring ribs, pulled chicken, cornbread and coleslaw was served in metal pie tins with plent of wet naps to go around!  Instead of a cake a make your own S'mores were offereed for dessert.  The s'mores bar was a huge hit and added another element of fun to the tent.    The gourment marshmallows, from Sweet Lydias, were just to die for!

This huge success not only in the actual surprise factor (which was great!) but was a fantastically fun party.  There was no end to the dancing, games and general high spirits - it went on until late into the night.
