When I found out my sister was pregnant I was beyond excited at the idea of putting together a beautiful baby shower for her! Waiting to hear whether she was going to have a boy or a girl was like waiting for Christmas morning..... and when the news came back that it was a girl my mind filled with frilly details and pink accents. She had mentioned she liked the idea of using a favorite book as the theme and since her favorite book was Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney we decided on that as the theme.
A white wrought iron baby carriage filled with florals and a sweet stuffed bunny set on the foyer piano set the scene as guests arrived. I added personal touches to illustrations from the book and framed them for decorating all the different areas of the house.
Guests gathered in the living room and filled out wish cards for the new mommy-to-be. The menu featured mini chicken salad sandwiches, vegetable crudites, turkey and cranberry toast bites and sipping sparkling pink punch. Custom labels for the buffet items also featuring elements from the bunny book theme.
The candy and dessert buffet was definitely the sweetest touch to the shower. A rustic, natural birdhouse found at Home Goods created the perfect shabby chic centerpiece. Round cake platters trimmed with pink feather wreaths at each side held the sweetest mini cupcakes designed by Georgetown Cupcake (otherwise known as DC Cupcake from the famous TLC tv show.) They did such a fantastic job with the adorable cupcakes!
Rice krispy treats dipped in pink and white chocolate and candy pearls, red velvet cake pops, caramel kettle corn and pastel colored candies were displayed with custom labeled clear take-out boxes so guests could take home some sweets.
