Recently, we styled a sweet Nautical themed party for a very special little boy. Joshua was down with the dreaded chicken pox just 2 weeks before his birthday and as such, his mother had to cancel the party invites for fear that little Josh will not be well enough to enjoy the celebration. Finally, 2 days before little Josh’s birthday, he was given the “high-five” by the family’s paediatrician! Sadly, that also means that there wasn’t enough time to plan a celebration with his friends.
Well, we hate to disappoint a little boy especially when his mother was so sweet to call us up and explain everything. And so, a mini celebration for this little Joshie as planned and styled in a couple of days. We invited all his little friends in the neighbourhood and ended up with 8 kids! Not bad for an impromptu invitation! With such short notice, that also means that there wasn't enough time to get vendors to theme the birthday cake and party food. But having a party does not need to be over-the-top. With a little bit of creativity and a whole lot of DIY effort, a sweet table is created with a clean and simple silhouette.
As Joshie loves to go on fishing trips with his dad , we decided to go with a charming Nautical Theme. The colour palette was shades of aqua blue, light blue and vanilla. Sweet treats on the dessert table consist of Life Bouys Cookies, assorted flavour macarons, chocolate fudge cake pops, mint-flavoured chocolate cupcakes, chocolate dipped marshmallows, seashells chocolates, coconut apricot bites, white jelly beans, blue sugar almonds and a funfetti cake frosted with a vanilla buttercream icing.
