Monica and Dave had a traditional Washington DC wedding ceremony. They were married at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church on Capitol Hill. White and green flowers were used in the decor and a cherry blossom motif was featured on their ceremony program. After the ceremony, they took portraits at Upper Senate Park and near the Lincoln Memorial.

Their reception, however, was designed to transport their guests to an old European villa. Table numbers were designed to look like port wine labels and the escort cards featured a port wine barrel. As to not distract from the venue, linens were an ivory silk, and flowers were classic white with a touch of green. Floral containers were terracotta with a distinct antiqued look. Guests were welcomed by a guitarist playing Spanish music. The waitstaff passed Portuguese Daisy cocktails, a delicious mixture of port, brandy, grenadine and lemon juice. Cigars were offered on the terrace. After an hour of tray-passed hors d'oeuvres, guests were seated and Monica and Dave shared their first dance, performed by Sound Nation. After Monica's father offered welcome remarks, the dinner buffet was opened. Guests had seemingly endless options: beef tenderloin, suckling pig, lamp chops, paella, potatoes, vegetables, hearts of palm salad and other accompaniments. It was over 20 feet of food! After dinner, Sound Nation got everyone, and I mean everyone, on the dance floor and kept them there for hours. Later Monica and Dave took a breather to cut the cake, and the caterer opened the dessert buffet (again, 20+ feet of sweets!) and the espresso station. We had cheesecake lollipops, mini key lime pies, demitasse cups of creme brulee, and fresh fruit, among many other options. We also served a duo of Ports with the dessert buffet.
