I have wanted to do a shoot on the beach for years. My friend's daughter was going to be turning 2 and had mentioned doing it at the beach. Long story short, I decided to just go all out. 3 cars of boxes, coolers, tents, and props later WE DID IT!
I purchased 2 closet doors (that looked like shutters) for $20 for the pair from the REstore and took them home. Laid them out and spray painted them purple. Then sprayed them pink in different shades. I took a sanding block and sanding them until I got different shades with a weathered look.
Then, we had little muslin bags (with the designs printed onto fabric) that the little girls dug for treasure in the sand. They put little diamonds and seashells inside. They received little mermaid-magical type wands for favors.
I made sugar cookie towers with cream cheese frosting and edible sugar to mimic a cake in the backdrop. The edible sugar flakes tasted like plastic, so I wouldn't recommend buying those in the future.
I recycled tin cans and dressed those babies up with a coat of acrylic pain and leftover strips of fabric and other details. It gave a whimsical, sweet and mismatched look to the table that I loved.
Finally we were so blessed to have the BEST vendors
