My daughter requested owls, kitty cats and the moon for her 3rd birthday party. I racked my brain to come up with a way to incorporate all 3...and then I remembered the poem that my grandma read to me as a child.
The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'
Pussy said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl!
How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?'
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.
'Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?' Said the Piggy, 'I will.'
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.
First of all, I designed a custom logo for her party that featured an owl and cat and the phrase, “Guess Whooo’s 3, Perrrfect Ally”. I used the logo on the invitations, signs, shirt and food tents.
The dessert table featured a doily and streamer backdrop with the poem on display and pie, caramel apple and cheesecake stations. We also served owl and cat cupcakes by Codi Gauger.
The main course was chili and taco soup with various toppings, a popcorn station and veggies served in mason hars.
Guests were greeted by handmade wreaths, a paint sample chandelier, centerpieces with doily flowers in lace wrapped mason jars, curly willow and owl and cat pumpkins.
Guests were able to party indoors or out with a tent and seating in the back yard. The tent was adorned with colorful paper lanterns.
The birthday girl wore a custom shirt featuring the party logo and a handmade tutu.
They enjoyed the photo station and props including owl and cat lanterns and playing cornhole with custom beanbags made by Codi Gauger.
