Hayden's Pirate Birthday (24 photos)
Our daughter has been obsessed with pirates this year, so it made sense to throw her a pirate bithday party.
At the entryway table, we set up pirate gear for the young guests, including pirate hats (only $2 a piece at Target), eyepatches (Hobby Lobby), fake swords (also from Target) and bandanas and tattoos (Party City).
For the dessert table, we made the cupcakes ourselves and topped them with pirate sails (free printables from cottage-industrialist.com). The cake was also homemade and topped with dynamite candles from Hobby Lobby. We bought the Jolly Roger flag at a the Pirate Adventure Dinner Theatre in Brea, CA; however, I've seen these same flags on Amazon and various party supply websites. The gift bags are from Target and were filled with pirate goodies from Party City and Hobby Lobby (each had pirate tattoos, a compass, an eyepatch, and a treasure map).
For the dining room table centerpiece, we filled a storage chest we already had with a bandana, party beads, Hershey Golden Nuggets chocolate candies, and "gold coins." We also dug out our Halloween decorations for sculls and sketetons, which we placed throughout the house and yard.
The biggest hit of day was the Pirate Photobooth. We purchased a bunch of props from the costume section at Party City and displayed them on a table outside in a shaded area. We then snapped photos of our guests having fun with the props.
