I had always wanted to throw a pirate party, but I did not quite like the idea of having skulls and crossbones for a birthday party. My son loves Mickey Mouse. That was how I came up with the concept of this party. I replaced all the skulls and crossbones with Mickey Mouse head and swords. I DIY-ed almost everything including the cake, pirate cookies, food, printables, and photography. I used up stuff that I already had in my storage for the decorations - mostly wrapping papers I'd had for years. The whole party was done on a mini budget.
