Blood Orange Cocktail


2 oz. vodka

1/4 oz. triple sec

1/4 oz. simple syrup

2 1/2 oz. blood orange juice



Juice 2-3 blood oranges. Strain the juice to remove any pulp.

Cut a thin strip of peel for a garnish. Scrape the white pith off the back of them. Curl it around your finger to give it a little shape.

Fill your cocktail shaker about a quarter full with ice. Add the vodka, triple sec, simple syrup, and blood orange juice to the shaker. Cap the shaker and shake vigorously to chill.

Strain into a 6-oz. martini glass. Garnish with a twist of blood orange peel.

Serve and enjoy!

*A note on simple syrup: Simple syrup is a mixture of equal parts white sugar and water that’s been boiled, then cooled. It’s a fast and easy way to sweeten drinks on the fly. I always keep a bottle in the fridge.
